Benefits of Aloe Vera for Skin
Aloe vera is a powerhouse of vitamins, enzymes, minerals, and amino acids, providing specific advantages for the skin:
Hydration and Moisturizing: Aloe vera is famous for its high water content, which helps to hydrate and soothe the skin without leaving a greasy residue, making it excellent even for oily or acne-prone skin.
Soothing and Anti-inflammatory: It is well-known for its cooling, soothing, and anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to relieve irritated skin, sunburn, minor burns, rashes, and discomfort from skin conditions like eczema.
Healing and Regeneration: Aloe contains hormones like Gibberellins that promote the formation of new cells, aiding in the healing of minor cuts, abrasions, and wounds, and potentially minimizing scarring.
Anti-aging Properties: Rich in antioxidants like Vitamins C and E and beta-carotene, it helps to fight free radicals, improve the skin's natural firmness, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by boosting collagen production.
Gentle Cleansing: Its natural properties can help unclog pores and have mild detoxifying effects, supporting a clearer complexion.

Skin Concern ???? Primary Goal Recommended Oils (High Percentage) Oils to Limit/Avoid
Dry / Mature Skin Deep conditioning, maximum moisture, and soothing. Olive Oil (up to 70%): Highly conditioning (Castile style). Shea Butter / Cocoa Butter (up to 15%): Rich in fatty acids for deep moisture. Avocado Oil: Very emollient and rich in vitamins. High Coconut Oil (over 30%), as it is highly cleansing and can be slightly drying if used too much.
Sensitive / Irritated Skin Gentle cleansing, soothing, and anti-inflammatory action. Sweet Almond Oil / Apricot Kernel Oil: Light, non-irritating, and moisturizing. Oat Infused Oil: Excellent for calming irritation. Calendula Infused Oil: Known for its skin-soothing properties. Essential oils like Cinnamon or high concentrations of citrus oils, which can be sensitizing.
Oily / Acne-Prone Skin Light moisture, pore cleansing, and non-comedogenic properties. Hemp Seed Oil / Jojoba Oil: Mimics natural sebum, balancing oil production. Rice Bran Oil: Light and non-greasy, rich in antioxidants. Castor Oil (around 5-8%): Good for creating a clarifying, bubbly lather. Very heavy butters like Cocoa Butter, which can sometimes feel heavy or be more comedogenic for some.
Normal Skin Balanced conditioning, good lather, and medium hardness. A balanced blend of Olive Oil (35-45%), Coconut Oil (20-30%), and Palm Oil/Shea Butter (20-30%). None, a balanced recipe works best!
